CRITICAL REFLECTION
Families are evolving when faced with the economic and social pressures of today's society (Cheal, 2002). The majority of families are caring and support each other when faced with challenging issues. The serious social issue of bullying is an example where family members can form a boundary to include a support network of people that are close to them. This can include Grandparents, Aunt, Uncles or Cousins. This support system can help the child who is being bullied so they don't feel alone. There maybe someone within this boundary the child will feel comfortable enough to confide in (Cheal, 2002).
Through researching for this assignment I have gained awareness of the seriousness of bullying and how it affects a child and their family. I have gained more understanding about the victim, the family and the bully. This knowledge will help me be more aware and recognise the signs. Further understanding will be gained of bullying through following school policies and procedures and participating in personal development workshops. The National Safe Schools Framework (2011) and the Code of Ethics (2008) are in place for Educators to use as a guideline. Partnerships between the school, educators, child and families will assist in the stand against bullying.
